 On this day 12th march 1930 , nearly 93 years before a man marched from Sabarmati Ashram to Dandi . He with his 77 followers walked nearly 240 miles to break the salt tax by the British government. This march created a huge problem on the ruling of British in India. Even this march was the first spark for Indian Independence movement . The march is known as Dandi march . And the man is Mahatma Gandhi . When Britishers added tax on salt, Indians faced a huge problem as the rate of the tax was very high and salt was a mandatory thing needed in day to day life.
